To experienced bloggers, it seems that everyone can develop their website and start earning money on it, but newbies may not even understand elementary things.
A specific example, you say that you can start a blog and monetize it through advertising, and this requires add the file to the root folder, beginners may not know how to do it.
What is the site root and where is it located? The root folder is on each site, and it contains all the files and folders that are necessary for the site to work. Simply put, this is the main directory on the hosting, which you can access via the file manager or by connecting to the site via FTP.
To confirm that you are the owner of the site, in many systems you need to add a special file to the root folder. Typically, this folder is called www, public_ html or in the domain of the site.
Here is an example of the site root:
Note that in this example the root is not www, but public_ html , because it contains site files. This image represents the root of the Joomla site, but the root of the WordPress site is no different.
Open the directory where the wp_admin, wp_content files, etc. are located, this will be the root folder.
To upload a file to the root of the site, you will need to use the file manager on the hosting or Total Commander. For example, we use TimeWeb hosting, where you need to click on File to select the download function:
After that a window opens in which there is a link to go to the file selection from the computer :
Select any text file, exe file, image, anything, and upload it to the hosting. Everything, the file is uploaded to the site root.
Now you have learned how to find the root of the site and how to enter it. Of course, this is not all that a webmaster should learn, but a start has been made. Keep on learning and you will definitely create a quality website.
