Rob Somerville's video on site registration in directories you can watch here.

Registering in directories gives backlinks

Registering in directories is another way of link building. There are many websites on the Internet whose main task is to place links to other websites. Such resources are called site directories .

The largest directories are DMOZ and Yahoo! However, there are smaller. In total, the Internet has several thousand English-language directories.

Manual or automatic registration

For these purposes it is best to use special programs or pay for website registration by other people. However, if you are going to do it manually, you need to visit the site of the famous specialist in the field of search engine optimization Jim Westergren http: // addurl. nu.

Day 29 - Part 1 - Registration in catalogs - Profit Hunter

Jim has compiled a list of directories (several hundred) on which you can place your website and get a reciprocal link.

The catalog is divided into several categories (the list at the bottom of the page). In the case of the phrase “speed reading” it’s not easy to select a category on the move. “Home / Family” is best suited.

Placement form Most of the directories have the same website. You need to specify the website address, its name, description and brief information about the owner, that is, about yourself. Some directories are paid. Some require a counter reference to be placed on the website.

Example of registration

Consider the procedure for registering a site using the example of the same InfoListing Directory.

Make a small description. Try to invest in 25-30 words. Specify your e-mail in the description.

Then re-enter your soap and registration type and click "Finish" (translation within the meaning of 🙂)

Day 29 - Part 1 - Registration in catalogs - Profit Hunter

You will receive an email with a link to confirm your email. You just need to click on this link and after a while (depending on the directory) your site will be added to the list.

Registering in directories is probably the only link building method that allows you to place links to a website in large quantities, for example, up to 50 per day. Directories do not register the site immediately (for some, it takes up to weeks), so search engines will not pay attention to such a “vigorous” activity.

Directory Submitter

Day 29 - Part 1 - Registration in catalogs - Profit Hunter

Directory Submitter is a tool for semi-automatic registration of sites / blogs in directories. You can choose a paid or free version. The same goes for the Article Submitter application that allows you to upload articles to article directories. A list of 263 English-language article directories sorted by PageRank, You can find on the site Income Hero.

In both cases, paid and free Plate versions differ only in the number of directories (in the free version there are 200-300 site directories and 200 article directories. In terms of functionality, they are the same. The lists of directories are constantly updated.

The program is very easy to use. In the process of using it you only have to enter the site data and personal data once. Then Directory Submitter will fill in all the fields automatically.

All similar programs work on this principle. If you can afford the paid version, buy it. You will not regret. As a Russian-language paid analogue (i.e., with a Russian-language menu), you can use AllSubmitter.

In addition, you can pay for manually running the catalogs with another person. There are enough similar services, including ours, in the Runet. Rob Somerill recommends the addurl site already known to you. nu.

If registering in catalogs is new to you, I recommend running the database manually a couple of times to know what result you can expect.

Registration in RSS-directories

If you have a blog, register it in RSS-directories. You shouldn’t do it manually, because there is a free program online that allows you to automate this business. It is called RSS Submit Pro and can be found at the following address: http: // www. allscoop. com / tools / rss-submit /
